Day 19 – What Do You Think of Religion? Or, What Do You Think of Politics?

Okay, I don’t really have much of an interest in either of these so, I’m going to try and respond to them both!

Day 19 – What I Think of Religion and Politics

I’ve said before on this blog that I’m not religious in anyway, even though I attended a Church of England primary school. We’re all entitled to make our own decisions and live the lives we choose. If anything, I’m a bit of an atheist (although, as crazy as I might sound, I wouldn’t be one to discredit the intervention of ‘extra-terrestrials’ at some point in our history….).

I can see how religion is important to many people as it helps them to discover hope and faith; they find something to believe in and, ultimately, make connections with those who share this faith. Whichever part of the world they’re from and who and whatever they believe in, it should be respected, in my opinion.

I do not like how politicians and the media used ‘religion’ as an excuse to account for the actions of terrorist actions from the middle East. Those of us in the west only know as much about their values and beliefs as we are lead to believe based on what we’ve read or seen in the news. Who’s to say that hasn’t been manipulated? Is it any coincidence that there is a great wealth of oil buried beneath some of these Eastern lands?! I’m going off-tangent here but, I often wonder what would happen it we succeeded and reached ‘the end’ in this “war on terror“… Would the US and UK really just shake hands and agree to divide everything 50/50…?

When I see or hear a politician speak, my ears switch off. I’ve voted in the UK elections for the last couple of years but, in all honesty, I wouldn’t trust any of them. I have little interest in politics and I find the whole thing too depression. We never read about or discover any positive news; it’s always negative. That’s why I try to stay out of it and, also, why I stopped reading newspapers six-years ago. There’s so much crap that we don’t need to know about and it’s often the stuff that makes people angry and bitter.

Those are my thoughts for today. 🙂

Please, feel free to share your thoughts.
