So, I recently bought some new CDs for the first time in many months and, with that, I purchased a couple of other items, including one DVD set that’d been on my wish list for the last few years. I guess I’d been waiting for the price to come down but I finally got my hands and the fourth and final series of The 4400.
Another night where I feel the urge to write.
What I haven’t yet mentioned is that I’m off work until Thursday this week. It’s rare for me to take any time off (I’m sure there’ll be more days and weeks like this before the year ends) but I decided to force myself to take a break for once. Back in September, I had hopes and the beginnings of plans to go away for a weekend or two but other ‘surprise expenses’ closed the curtain down on that.
I’d planned to take this time off to do some things for myself (mostly walking); to try and enjoy a bit more of my life. My mum’s been on holiday for almost two-weeks now and so, it’s also been a bit of an experiment in noticing how or if my mood is different with one less person in this house…
This morning, I was slowly getting ready to go out on a solo walk, which I hadn’t done for two weekends. When I say ‘slowly’, I mean that I didn’t end up leaving the house until close to midday (procrastination, etc.). Ten minutes in to the thirty-minute drive and a text comes through on my phone. Out of curiosity, I have to take a look and I see it’s from one of my good friends, asking simply whether I was busy today. So, I safely pulled over and responded. Now, I wouldn’t ordinarily do this in many situations and drastically change my day but for a friend like that, I’ll gladly make an effort.
We ended up sitting and talking in the city before heading off to watch a film – something we’d already done twice within the past four weeks! It’s not long since I arrived home from the day, which I did enjoy. But during the drive back, all I could think about was how much I just wanted to be sat write here, writing this…
It’s hard to ignore the fact that winter is very much on its way now.
We still have a few hours until Monday officially arrives (ie. the weekend isn’t even over yet) but I can confidently say that this weekend has been a great one! Very busy, highly productive and I feel like I’ve really done something positive with my time. I have no regrets! 🙂
It all started with the usual monthly meditation morning… Continue reading
Today isn’t simply the 10th of October 2013… As I discovered earlier on Facebook; today is also World Mental Health Day 2013!
I’d like to start by thanking you all for reading and for following this blog over the past year and a bit. I greatly appreciate that you are all still there in spite of my infrequent postings and updates. In the time since I’ve started writing, sure, I’ve been able to attempt to share some of my lows, my downward spirals and ways of negative thinking… But on the whole, I’ve made a lot of progress and I’m still moving forwards. That may not solely rely on the efforts of writing on these pages but I’ve almost always been able to share what’s been going on.
To close this post, I’d like to just say to you all that, regardless of your age, your origin or how you may think and feel inside yourself; you don’t have to suffer alone or in silence. You will always have a choice. I’m not asking you to necessarily reach out to me personally but please do try to reach out to someone. Whether friend or family or not. You can find someone to share with.
Thank you all. Happy Friday for tomorrow and well wishes for the weekend!

The other week, I mentioned that I was going to share one of Pearl Jam’s latest songs off the album that’s due out in, well, perhaps a matter of days by now! That reminds me of a desire to place an order. It’s been half-a-year since I bought any new music and I always look forward to new work from this band. Anyway, this is Sirens; the second single to be released from Lightning Bolt.
I’ve had one of those days where I managed to start but didn’t want to keep going. And then, not long before it was time to go home, positive energy sprung out from within and I was almost wanting to stay on later and beyond my means! The human mind is a very complicated thing. If I was still at work now, I wouldn’t have made it to the meditation class earlier this evening, where we talked about the brain, the mind and Buddhist beliefs of life after death.
