Without

Last night, as I lay on my settee after wasting hours of the evening on the internet, I found myself wanting to return to write on this blog. That urge has carried throughout today but it’s taken more of an effort to get me to sit here and write this. Exactly where I want to start and how I’d like this to progress, remains unknown. I feel as though I’m lacking in so many things at the moment and inspiration is one of the. As for the rest, well, I could dip my hand in, clean off the sand and I still doubt I’d be able to decipher or interpretate it.

Week 3 Review

It’s been five-days since my third week in the Self Esteem course and I apologise for the gaping delay in writing this post. For the past week, I’ve been unable to log-in for more than a few minutes… That’s been the highlight of my efforts! For the rest of the time, I’ve been unable to load a single WordPress-hosted site; whether that’s one of my own or somebody else’s. Doing a bit of search engine research this evening, I’ve discovered that it seems to be an issue with TalkTalk (perhaps also concerning customers of other UK-based ISPs). All other sites appear to be functioning fine but I’ve not been able to get on here until this evening… When I suddenly remembered that I still have a mobile broadband with 3 Mobile! 😎

Weston-super-Mud, last Monday evening.

…I just have to be careful not to download too much stuff before the end of the month. My main reason for switching back to wi-fi last week was because I received a warning text to say that I am close to my monthly 5Gb limit (so many wasted hours on YouTube…). I often wonder why I still have this thing, as it’s costing me more than £15 a month but hey, I am grateful on this one occasion! 🙂

Your Turn!

I received what I at first feared was a spam comment from a fellow respected blogger at myspokenheart. After a bit of investigation though, this appears to be something that is gradually ‘doing the rounds’ on WordPress.

To tell you the truth though, I was never any good at playing ‘tag’ at school. It was one of those games that I was terrified of. I mean, I literally couldn’t run fast to save my life (or, to avoid being tagged…). There was also the fear of being touched and ‘contaminated’ by others but, I’ll carry on and participate.

If you choose to read on, you might even see a ‘disguised’ photo of myself…!!

Daily Prompt: ‘Dearly Departed’

“Write your own eulogy.

This one has come at a rather convenient time for me personally, as I lost my granddad, 82-years old, one week ago today.

Daily Prompt: ‘This is Your Life’

If you could read a book containing all that has happened and will ever happen in your life, would you? If you choose to read it, you must read it cover to cover.

…Can I pre-date a blog post? 😛

2012 in Review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 4,300 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 7 years to get that many views.

Daily Prompt: Immortalised in Stone

Here is today’s daily prompt:

“Your personal sculptor is carving a person, thing or event from the last year of your life. What’s the statue of and what makes it so significant?”

2013

In this post, I’m looking forward to the new year. In another post recently, I reflected back on all that I am grateful for from the year of 2012. Now, I’d like to set out a list of ambitions and aspirations for the new year. Some that I will aim to accomplish; others that aren’t a necessity but, they might give me something to hope for.

If I hadn’t deleted my previous blog, I’d be able to reflect on the goals I set out for 2012. I remember one of them being to find a girlfriend; someone to share life with, as I’d just begun internet dating. Well, I may still be living the mostly-single life but, I do feel as though I’ve moved closer to that target. I now know what I like and must look for in a person and I’m less concerned about meeting ‘anyone’ than I am in sharing with someone uniquely special to me.

Let’s carry on with my new list for the new year then, in no particular order:

Poem: Forever Young (Daily Prompt)

If there were a real Fountain of Youth, would you drink the water?

This is the first time I’ve attempted to write something based on a  Daily Prompt but, as I sit here, still awaiting news of how and when I can collect my van from the MOT test today (they’ve had it since Friday), I thought I’d give it a go. With a poem, naturally. I must also thank hastywords for directing my attention to this regular feature on WordPress. 🙂

‘Forever Young’

It doesn’t have to be this way
Your future lies ahead
One path set out in front of you
This concrete hasn’t set

Please, find the strength
Within yourself
This way, with me
For better health

Remember LOST?
That mysterious land
With Richard Alpert
Immortality, from Jacob’s hand

The island’s gone
But there’s still hope
Just one more hill
And down the slope

We can go back
There is still time
We’ll start again
Forever, yours and mine

Please, take a sip
You must go first
I’ll be right behind you
Please, quench your thirst

Writing

This is going to be a bit of an update on my writing course, as I haven’t had much of a chance to do one before.

Next Thursday is going to be our final session together as a group and, it’s fair to say that I’m going to miss this very much once it’s over. This course was supposed to have ended by now but, as we had to cancel one week, we’re fortunately able stay on a little bit longer and to make up for that lost time.

‘Officially’ though, our final session was on Thursday, which was also the day where we were each required to bring in and share our completed short stories.
