‘Stan’

This post will have nothing to do with the Eminem single that rose Dido high and up in to the limelight in the earls 00s… Even though I’ve ironically been subjected to listen to that artist’s ‘noise’ over the past few days at work!

Today, I want to write about the autobiography of Stan Collymore; a former-Premier League footballer (soccer player) who, later on in his short-lived career, received a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder.

Snow Day!

If you’ve been following this blog for the past few months then, you must think it would be inevitable that I would I get out at some point to walk around and take photographs of the local landscape, blanketed in a sheet of white.

That’s what I did yesterday afternoon! 😀

A lot of snow fell in the night before and continued to fall throughout the morning. They’d forecast rain or perhaps sleep to arrive after lunch (which would’ve melted all the lovely whiteness) but, that didn’t quite happen as more flakes arrived.

Another ‘shower’ was forecast for this morning but, as I’ve just gotten out of bed(!) and had br’lunch-fast, I might have missed it. After filtering through my many megabytes-worth of photos, last night, I’ve settled on a final count of 89; 76 of which you can find in my Flickr album, along with those you’ll see below.

The Placebo Effect

It’s so late on a Friday night that it’s almost Saturday but, I wanted to ask whether anyone else in the UK saw the Derren Brown‘s show on Channel 4?

Last week was the second part in his ‘Apocalypse’ experiment. I forget the title of tonight’s show but, it was all about the placebo effect taking a brand new pill apparently created to relieve a sufferer of their fear.

Okay, so, the truth is a little different – these pills don’t do anything; it’s all allowing yourself to rise up above your fears. But, if you haven’t seen it, I would highly recommend watching. If you don’t catch it on E4, C4, More4 or 4Seven very soon then, you should be able to watch it online some (4OD – On Demand although, I’ve never used it).

I don’t really have much else to say and I certainly don’t wish to spoil the episode for anyone who might intend to watch it. Although, I did feel I could relate to Nick who suffered from social anxiety but, perhaps more so, the woman, Katie, who talked about a fear of being able to sing even in her own home because someone might hear her… Watch it!. 🙂

Phone Shopping

This blog is already personal with regards to my feelings, thoughts and emotions so, I don’t see why I can’t also delve in to other areas that I’m interested in (it helps to lighten the mood at times).

For most of this year, I’ve been thinking about how ‘nice’ it might be to have a new phone. My Nokia 7230 is only two-years old but, it seems to be so far behind technology. I’m quite active on the internet and I see this as a reason to consider upgrading. I might then make better use of Twitter, I’d be able to instantly share photos with friends on Facebook and, I might even be able to stay in touch with readers and fellow bloggers during my lunch breaks. My current phone does have internet access but, it’s very slow and you have to use the buttons to move the mouse pointer/cursor (as it’s not included in my contract plan though, I really shouldn’t bother using it to try and read e-mails – last month, I ended up doubling my bill through internet usage!)

It’s been on my mind for a while but, I feel a bit ‘lost’ in the world of smart phones, androids and all that… What really separates at iPhone from the rest of the competition?

It was after reading this article on Yahoo just now that I felt compelled to blog about it and hopefully get some views and opinions from those more knowledgeable on the subject.

More Gratitude to Share!

This is turning out to be a good day for sharing gratitude…

Have look down the right hand column of the screen and, just above my Twitter updates, you should see that I now have 100 followers of this blog (hopefully more, by the time you read this! ;-)).

That feels like quite a milestone for a blog that was only started in August.

That currently works out as 76 blog followers (WordPress and e-mail) with an extra 24 staying connected through Twitter. I didn’t realise the number of WordPress followers was quite that large already!

Not for the first time today, I’d like to give a big THANK YOU to everyone reading this. 🙂

If only it hadn’t just started raining, I’d be going out for a walk, as I’m still struggling to find those 130 words I need to finish the first chapter… 😉
